Sharlene Alice Provilus is an inspirational speaker, spoken word performing artist and social entrepreneur. She is a New York City native with a passion for community engagement, advocacy and youth development. Hip-hop music and urban culture have had a tremendous influence on her artistic expression. Despite experiencing the hardships of abuse, neglect, and a number of other adverse childhood experiences, she never lost her creative instinct. At the age of 15 years old, she and her family, relocated to North Carolina where she graduated from a small town high school and later received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Sociology with a Marriage and Family Counseling concentration from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC).

She began her professional career in Higher Education Administration and Residence Life at Meredith College (Raleigh, NC). She later transitioned to work with one of the largest youth serving organizations in the country [The YMCA of the Triangle]. Sharlene is a huge advocate for youth development. While working with the YMCA of the Triangle, Sharlene held multiple leadership roles including director of the nation's largest literacy based mentoring program. She had the privilege of developing a number of strategic partnerships while in that position. Sharlene also served as a Senior Youth and Outreach Director offering leadership to teams that served hundreds of students and families through nearly a dozen after-school programs, community based programs and summer camp experiences. Developing effective leadership teams, empowering people and making an impact is a part of Sharlene’s core values.

Writing and empowering others through inspirational talks and spoken word poetry have become the medium through which she shares her story. Over the past decade, Sharlene has had the privilege of leading workshop presentations, keynote addresses and spoken word performances with thousands of people on platforms relating to youth development, creative arts, entrepreneurship and the Christian faith. Sharlene has also diversified her creative experience with radio and movie appearances, voice over work and creative consulting. Sharlene continues to stretch herself as an advocate, author, student, and servant. She is the founder of the Redeemed Art Collective and CEO of Write Speak Inspire, LLC.
