Sharlene Alice Provilus is a performing artist, creative entrepreneur, inspirational speaker, and life-long learner. She is a New York City native with a passion for community engagement, youth advocacy, and leadership development.  Overcoming the hardships of abuse, neglect, and a number of other adverse childhood experiences has inspired Sharlene’s commitment to serving others. At the age of 15 years old, she and her family, relocated to North Carolina where she graduated from a small-town high school and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with a Marriage and Family Counseling concentration from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC). Sharlene has begun a Master’s of Divinity with a concentration in Biblical Studies at Campbell University, (Buies Creek, NC) with a desire to pursue a doctorate degree program.

She began her professional career in Higher Education Administration and Residence Life at Meredith College (Raleigh, NC). She later transitioned to work with one of the largest youth-serving organizations in the country [The YMCA of the Triangle]. Sharlene is a huge advocate for youth development.

While working with the YMCA of the Triangle, Sharlene held multiple leadership roles including director of the nation's largest literacy-based mentoring program. She also led fundraising campaign teams that assisted with raising over 1.2 Million Dollars to support student and family programs. Sharlene served as a Senior Youth and Outreach Director offering leadership to teams that served over 1,000 students and families through nearly a dozen after-school programs, community-based programs, and summer camp experiences. 

Over the course of her career, she has also created and led teams of various sizes for multiple business ventures. Sharlene has evaluated and coached mid to large-sized corporations on cultivating cohesive leadership teams. Empowering people and making an impact are among her core values.

Writing and empowering others through inspirational talks and spoken word poetry has become the medium through which she shares her story. Over the past decade, Sharlene has had the privilege of leading workshop presentations, keynote addresses and spoken word performances with over 20,000 people on platforms relating to youth development, performing arts,  entrepreneurship and the Christian faith. Sharlene has also diversified her creative experience with radio and movie appearances and consulting.

Sharlene continues to stretch herself as an advocate, author, student, and social advocate. She is the founder of the Redeemed Art Collective, CEO of Write Speak Inspire, LLC and a senior partner with The Dream Team Project.
